We have stayed at Squirrel cottage twice now and hope to return again. It is a very cosy cottage in the most beautiful village. Easy access to two dog friendly pubs, both serving food, a village shop serving fresh fruit and veg, bread and groceries. A central point from which to explore many of the Cotswold attractions. A real gem of a place.

Hook Norton is a lovely tranquil Oxfordshire village, made famous by the brewery. This review is based purely on our stay at Squirrel Cottage. It's a cosy (small) but quaint little house, with both a Rayburn and small log burner. It's relatively well equipped, and has all you really need for a short break. It could have been cleaned better, you didn't have to look hard (behind the sofa) to find dust and dirt which hadn't been cleaned for months. As a winter break I'm sure it would be lovely. However, in the warmest June for over 30 years we wanted to use the garden, that's where we were most disappointed. It's accessed by a short climb along a communal path, this is explained before booking so whilst not ideal was at least expected. The garden itself is secluded and mostly peaceful (some noisy neighbours) with a lovely view over the rooftops of the village. But the promised seating area, tables and chairs and bbq were all in a disgusting unused mess. In short, they were all unusable. I'm not saying don't come here, but be aware of the garden and clarify the condition of it beforehand! Edit We have since heard from the owner and been compensated satisfactorily for the disappointment over the garden.
