I've wanted to go to Holy Island since I was a little girl. So decided to stay in Northcumbria and make the trip. I booked our tickets a good job we did there was hundreds of people. It's a long walk from the Carpark in the village, getting to the Island was unbelievable with this straight road with big pools of water and lots of birds. When we got near the Island and Castle its a very steep walk around and up to the top but the view was brief taking and very surreal. One thing to remember is it closes at midday. Walking in the rooms in the castle you got to see how it would have been and if it wasn't for someone buying the Castle in a very poor state it would now be in ruins. We will go back again but I've been there and pleased i managed to walk up as if uou have any mobility issues you will possibly not make it and wheelchairs can't be taken up.
