Wagtail

Visited here on Monday 1st of May, just after lunchtime, 3pm. Surprisingly for a bank holiday Monday the pub was relatively quiet, for the size of the pub. Ordered our drinks, lovely clean pints off the draught. Ordered our food, waited 35 minutes and decided to ask how long our food would be, to our surprise it was brought out within 2 minutes. I myself had nachos and halloumi fries, my partner had surf and turf. Overall the food was terrible! I had to ask for more cheese sauce and when it was delivered it was cold but so was the rest of my nachos, my partners steak was undercooked. After waiting 35 minutes we decided sending it back was not an option as we'd only be waiting even longer. Ate what we could stomach and recieved 20% off our bill. Would've had pudding if the wait wasn't so long! To our surprise we were told by the bar staff that there was 3 people in the kitchen! One of them being the manager of the pub. On a plus note and the only plus note about the food is my halloumi fries and my partners scampi were very nice, apart from that nothing was actually edible...unless they make you wait long enough ! Can't fault the service we received from the front of house, which is why I've given two stars. My partner has been here a few times previously over the years and has never had a problem, so today was a big shock to him and we will not be returning.

I visited yesterday with my daughters and on this occasion I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Two of the dishes we ordered had bbq sauce on them, and boy did they have bbq sauce on them! They were smothered. Too much, too sickly. Completely ruined the dish, and mine should have had onion and chives on it too, but they were absent. Its a shame as it is my go-to restaurant when im in the area.

Whilst I appreciate staffing is an issue and they do the best the can under the circumstances, it makes it no less frustrating when food takes over an hour to arrive, when traveling with two hungry children I could have made it back home to Taunton, cooked dinner, fed them and got them into bed in the time it took us to go from being seated to eating here. Edit: Updated this to one star as after the entire wait my order arrived wrong, incorrect toppings on the burger and the fries were cold. Over an hour wait for that. What a disgrace. I didn't think it could get worse. Went to pay and realized afterwards someone else's bill has been added to my tab. Credit to them, they refunded it (after it was spotted by me), but that should never have happened.
