We used this firm for to test samples of concrete we collected from specific locations of an 8 storey building. We needed the tests to be specific in locations. They turned out not to be doing them in-house, which is fine for a start. They then said it takes 10 working days, which we managed to reduce to 5 by paying a premium. They then sent us the results, using their 3rd party references without mentioning the locations where we took them! they managed to break the link between the sample reference/location and the test result so we could not tell which result came from where. A nightmare to be honest. It took us two days of chasing them and their lab to realize the impact of what they have done while people on site were on hold awaiting results. If you ever see a site being delayed, it is becuase things like that. The industry is so dis-fragmented and needs many specialists. It is like a chain and the weakest link causes the chain to be broken. In this case, because we used this lab, we were the weak link - we caused site 2 days delay because they did not know what to do with the concrete because our report was late. Disappointing is an understatement. This is quite basic, a client sends you a sample with a reference, you return the result using the client reference! They returned it with a random reference. Two days after the due date (for which we paid a premium), and we are still waiting!
