St Andrews Church in Stanton upon Hine Heath is a peaceful, rural church with Saxon origins. Beyond the foundations, little of the Early Medieval church remains. It appears the original Saxon church was rebuilt the 12th century, reusing much of the original red sandstone. It is thought the Saxon church was suitably old to warrant the extensive restoration and rebuilding. The large stones in the North wall are said to be Saxon, but the easily recognisable herringbone blockwork is 12th restoration. The tower and belfry were added in the 13th and 14th centuries. The blind arcades of a long-lost South aisle are visible on the nave walls, likely to have been blocked up during a later restoration as the parish shrank. Interesting features within the church include the early 20th century West gallery; a plain, Victorian octagonal font and hatchments bearing the Corbet crest and the Royal coat of arms.

Beautiful Norman church in the Shropshire countryside. Legend of a witch buried under the altar in a bottle. Lych gate to the fallen of the war .
