We wanted to support local business so took a trip to Dixon and Franks, after previously buying carpets from further afield. Impressed with the local show room and helpful salesman we decided on a carpet and booked it in. So far, so good. Checked via email night before fitting, confirmed that going ahead but no time given. Phoned in the morning of fitting to be told that we are last on the list to be fitted but couldnt give a time. Fitter turns up at 1715 after taking whole day off work (much needed to work frontline NHS staff-thanks!). Hes cheesed off when he arrives as the old carpet hasnt been lifted (no communication from D and F to do this , or how much it would cost to be done), so charged us to do this (no issues with paying) Paid the fitter then after he had left, we noticed he had missed an area around the fire place and a bubble where the under lay hadnt been cut properly- again no issues, everyone makes mistakes (although was last job and was in a rush). The fun begins...trying to get the fitter back! Absolute shambles. Tried numerous times, lied to numerous times about when he was returning (didnt care when, as long as he did when everybody said he was). This meant moving furniture, disconnecting TV when we told he was coming only to not turn up. After having to be rude down the phone to the admin staff (really not my style) we were told theyd sort it after the fitter was not answering his phone. We were told we would be contacted the morning of his return-this didnt happen, so no clue as to when he would turn. He did turn up later in the day after we had once again chased this up ourselves. When he finally turned up, he sorted the job and was apologetic. In summary, nice showroom, lovely carpet, diabolical communication.
