All three of my children currently attend this fantastic village school and I couldn't be happier with the progress they've made and how they have grown into confident learners. Yes the school as had a bumpy time in the past but praise is due to the current head for navigating us through and the school is definitely on the way up. The fantastic staff, an active PFA and supportive village community along with the happy children clearly demonstrate what a great school this is.

My eldest attended the pre school on site and had a very smooth transition to the first school. He is now year 1 and loves going to school, the teaching is excellent and his confidence has increased, highly recommend this school. My youngest is attending the pre school and loves it, he is becoming a confident young person and will be ready to start at the first school next year with enthusiasm.

Our two attend this lovely small personal first school. The teaching is excellent and extracurricular activities also a real strength. They go to school happily every day and we are very pleased with the young people they are becoming as a result of their schooling.

My son started at Hinton in September 2013 and is in his final year and will leave in July 2018. We live extremely close to the school so never thought about any other school. His time at Hinton has be beset with change. Since he started the entire teaching, TA and support staff have changed. Also in 2015 over 25% of the pupils left in a 2-3 month period. He has had four head teachers and been taught by four different teachers. Thankfully the current teacher Ms Kinnersly is excellent. Hinton is a two class school across 5 year groups his current class has 29 pupils across three years. Last year his class was 16! When you choose a village school you are looking for certain USPs, smaller classes, parent engagement and a more nurturing environment. When he started this was the case. Now only the latter is achieved. How the children interact is fantastic but this has always been the case at Hinton. Sport in the school in non existent, it is outsourced to pro coaching and in my view it is just another subject that needs to be ticked. Fortunately a parent has set up a school football team and they are extremely active playing regularly. The PTA is extremely active and raises a lot of money which add to the enrichment of the children. Budgets are tight in schools and the governors have done what they can. However the leadership of the school is lacking in my opinion. They recently changed the school uniform without any parent consultation. At a meeting last year some of the achievements cited where put new padlock on the school field gates! The school has no social media presence and does tell you much about what the children have been doing, compared to other schools So would I send my son to Hinton? My son has thoroughly enjoyed his time there. He has made some friends and heads to school every day with spring in his step. The school lacks sports or focus on the outdoors. He has a very good teacher and has a good TA Mr Griffiths, who had some big shoes to fill when Mrs Fenton left. If I had another child about to start I would probably consider another local school. There has been too much change and with the possible move towards an Academy I only foresee more change. I wanted my son to swap schools a year earlier but he really want to stop to do year 4. If we didn't walk to school I think we may have moved him. I would encourage you to consider Hinton but see what is best for your child. It could be Hinton but it maybe elsewhere I hope this helps?
