I must emphasise that this is NOT a criticism of Hassingham House, but of the owners, FOREST HEALTHCARE LTD, a company that has an income in the millions from the multiple care homes that they own...this company, strangely, has no review facility, so I reluctantly have to place my review on the Hassingham House review facility. A carer knocked my husband's expensive hearing aid off his bedside table, and it was subsequently trodden on and broken. It was insured, but I was advised by my insurance company that if I made a claim, it would double my premiums in successive years. As my husband is contributing to his care from his income, I am on a limited budget, so I asked Forest Healthcare to compensate him for the cost of repair. To my complete shock, they only offered 50%...as 'a gesture of goodwill'! This holds my husband, who is unable to get out of bed or walk, 50% responsible for damage that he could not possibly have caused. This is scandalous! Forest Healthcare have a vicarious liability for the actions of their staff, but they are choosing to ignore this. As a 'gesture of goodwill', I reduced my claim to 80% of the repair cost, but they categorically refuse to pay that amount - a difference of 48. This is a week's groceries for me, but a drop in the ocean for them. Please be aware that this is how you get treated if staff cause damage to your loved one's personal possessions.

Our son had been in hassingham house since November 2019 and it was quite hard for him at 44yrs old to settle, he was terminally ill with a brain tumour. All of the staff were so kind and considerate and helped him immensely. As we all know covid then came along and stopped us from getting to be with our loved ones which was devastating. Time was so precious. On October the 8th the dreaded call came and he had suffered a stroke, then 2 days later seizures. The staff were amazing, and although our son was in a coma treated him with the most kindest and caring manner. They gave him dignity at all times and we cannot thank them enough. If needed lthey were there even when they were not officially on duty. The love was unconditional and the care for him and for us was above and beyond and we are so glad that he was in the best care home ever Thankyou to you all for all you did and continue to do every single day, your amazing we are so lucky to have you in Hingham Norfolk.
