Travelodge Newbury Tot Hill

The most run down and dirty Travelodge I've ever stayed in. Verging on squalor. Had to move rooms because my hot water packed up on the second night! One other guest was not so lucky, and couldn't move as there were no more rooms available. The apathetical guy on the desk shrugged his shoulders and said there were several rooms that had no hot water. And he went on to admit they'd been having problems for weeks with the hot water! Why on earth hasn't something been about it!!! This place is long overdue a refurb, but to have no hot water is an absolute disgrace! Also the place is in the middle of nowhere. Okay, not their fault exactly, but when you factor in to the equation that taxis between here and Newbury town centre cost from 15 to 26 depending on the time of day, it's another reason not to stay here. Avoid at all costs.

Rooms: Room clean, extra pillows were already in room. No air conditioning but temperature was just right for us. Food & drinks: McDonald's and Starbucks on same site. Starbucks was closed when we left but McDonald's was open for breakfast.

Although the location is perfect, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, the shower didn't work. We informed the reception staff on our departure only to be told we should have checked it when we first went into the room! As we had arrived quite late, we didn't want to make too much noise to disturb other guests, so being told this was quite rude.
