VSF Ltd.

Having moved into a house with a leaking asbestos garage roof, we found VSF on a Google search, and we invited them to quote. Their contact centre was able to give us a provisional quote just by looking at our property on Google Maps, which was useful, and a representative was booked to come out and actually view the garage a few weeks later. This surveyor/salesman was great very quick and efficient, and gave us a provisional date when he came out to view the site. We paid the deposit, and waited. There was no contact whatsoever from VSF after wed paid our deposit. This went on for weeks. We wound up chasing them for confirmation that theyd still be coming out to us, and got a rather cheesed off receptionist who said that of course they were. In the meantime, a family emergency called us to the other side of the country, which meant we had to leave the keys in the hands of our neighbours, on the off chance that VSF would be coming on the day the salesman had given. Sure enough, they turned up, our neighbours were able to hand over the garage keys, and work began. We were able to watch it on our CCTV camera. When we returned home a few days later, the work had been done, and the garage roof was replaced with a nicely constructed looking white corrugated roof. It was watertight and secure, and I had no issue with the quality of the work done. Other residents of our street have commented on how good it looks. However, we quickly noticed that a lot of items had mysteriously disappeared from our garage, and that our hose had been turned on and left running, for goodness knows how long. To date, weve realised that weve been relieved of two garden spades, some buckets and a hose reel. Small items, but its the principal of the matter. You dont steal from customers! We reported this to VSF, who seemed wholly uninterested and didnt even acknowledge the theft. Bits of asbestos (Not small pieces were talking a lot of 30-60cm long chunks) had been left in our neighbours garden. To add to this, there was clearly some sort of miscommunication over payment, and we received a receipt and invoice from someone elses card payment. We were asked to phone a mobile phone number and make a BACS payment of a four-figure amount to a complete stranger, which worried us greatly in this age of scammers and fraudsters. We received a typo-ridden certificate purporting to have been issued by the Environment Agency in regards to asbestos removal, which we forwarded to our solicitor, for her records and amusement. Overall, I could not find it in myself to recommend VSF. The garage roof does look good, and Im relieved the asbestos is gone. However, the fact that items were stolen from our garage, their customer service is non-existent, and our garden was left a water-logged quagmire means that Id recommend people stay well back from this unprofessional outfit. Edited to add: The reply from the owner here (Written some 18 months after my review was written) is rubbish. Nobody has contacted me, and no refund was given for the stolen items. Just to add insult to injury, I receive monthly junk mail from these people, asking if I want my garage roof replaced, so read into that what you will about their admin and record keeping!

New garage roof fitted and old one removed and disposed of - excellent work carried out by the fitters, very tidy and conscience of their housekeeping. Would highly recommend their services.

Since my initial review which was written from frustration, giving a very poor account of VSFs performance, I was immediately contacted and within days the contracts manager reviewed the work and has promised to have the final snagging issues rectified in the next couple of weeks. Im hopeful that this will be a successful visit and await the date for the fitters to return and on that basis I have given 3 stars. Watford Herts
