"To say that my golf game needed work would be the understatement of the year. I was very frustrated with my game; everything I tried on my own just didn't work. I stopped going to the driving range - why practice bad habits. I decided to try a teaching pro - I wanted someone who could cut through the generic rules and regulations of the "proper swing" and tailor the instruction to my specific problems.
I found Mike after a friend from Lymm GC recommended him. I went to his website and watched a training video. I was impressed with the clarity of the instruction.
I was more impressed after my first lesson - within just a few minutes Mike had pinpointed problems with my swing. Using the swing software and trackman computer he was able to show me exactly what the problem was. By the end of the first lesson I was hitting the ball better than ever before.
Using Mikes easy to follow drills I am now going to the driving range again and my game is improving. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone who would like to keep it simple and yet very effective." Nov 19th, 2016

3 weeks ago I was looking for a local golf instructor who had good reviews (of course), was easy going, had flexible hours, and most importantly had a high golf IQ. So I found Mike at High Legh GC and gave him a call. He actually answered right off and took time to talk with me and answer my questions. I certainly felt he was easy going, he communicated a strong golf IQ based on responses to my questions and was also flexible b/c he found a time for me late on a week night for my first lesson. A+ experience to that point. Since then I've had four lessons. During the first lesson Mikes skill as a golf teacher really shined. He focussed on the criticality of the backswing and its impact on a successful swing plane. But what was most impressive was how he explained the kinematic sequence of the swing (the order in which certain muscles move in the swing - and why). If this sounds or seems overwhelming or complex, the way Mike did it, it wasn't. He clearly explained (and corrected) certain misperceptions I had - like simply focussing on points of reference in the swing. Mike showed me quickly thats its not about getting your hands or the club etc to certain locations, its making sure the right muscles are triggering the movements to allow your body to hit those points of reference. My backswing was not only off plane but it was also controlled by my hands.I now have a backswing on plane controlled by my left upper arm (I'm right handed). The next revelation was analogizing the body movement in a swing and the weight transition to a pendulum. A lot of golf talk and literature emphasize rotation in the golf swing. Mikes visual pendulum demonstration with the club and then showing how incorrect rotation or twisting creates the dreaded figure 8 for the club face/swing was brilliant. Any way, I can go on and on about what I've learned from Mike and how/why my experience with him continues to score an A+, but I think you get my point. I have a long way to go in perfecting my swing and game but with Mike I really feel like the improvements I am making and will continue to make will be permanent and truly lower my handicap and increase my overall enjoyment of the game. Mike is really helping me change my muscle memory around my swing. Something I had until this point found impossible. The 5 stars I'm giving Mike are well deserved and earned. If you've never had an instructor, give Mike a try. He will start you off right. If you're looking to switch instructors or had instructors in the past that just haven't been impactful for you, give Mike a try. He'll provide a teaching experience you've likely not had - you won't be disappointed. Feb 2nd, 2018
