There's been a church here since before the Norman Conquest and it is in the Domesday book of 1086. The church here today originates from the 13th century, built by Augustinian Canons of Hickling Priory, which when dissolved in 1536, the church became dedicated to St Mary. With a 90 foot-high three-stage tower, the church is a dynamic feature in the scenic location. It's listed grade II*, which is a reflection of its historic interest. With car parking, but no toilets, it is nonetheless accessible for wheelchairs and is open each day. Not my first visit - I always enjoy coming here.
