We only used the restaurant but the facilities looked good and the restaurant is a huge asset. Food & drinks: We dined in the restaurant while passing through the area. Food was absolutely amazing and the service was too. Very attentive.

Disappointing. There is clearly a lot of effort being put it. The service was excellent, but the food was not. Starter of belly pork was warm, and had a lot of fat, just chewy and not nice. Scallops were very good. Main of steak and chips was fine, again not hot, just warm. Again quite fatty. Main of lamb was poor. Its just 3 chops. No carbs no sauce or jus. Again only warm, fat not rendered down so meat is just surrounded by warm chewy fat. It came with 3 baby beetroot. I only found 1, but I had given up with the dish so the others might have been there. There was very little flavour in the meat. Deserts were nice, panacotta and chocolate fondant, but nothing special. 3 course meal for 2 people, 1 large white wine, and a pint of Coke 134. Value for money absolutely not. Even if all 6 dishes were good it still isn't worth 134. There are lots of places that do good food at half the price. Houlblon Arms is not twice as good as those places. I think you are paying a lot for the service. It was top restaurant standard service. If you want your unwanted wine glass taken away on a silver tray, and then waiter returns to take unwanted cutlery away on a silver tray then this is for you. Personally I'd rather pay half the price. Would I go again, sorry no I wouldn't. Again same principle even if all dishes were good I wouldn't go again.
