We have stayed at Curlew cottage once a year since 2018 and we love it there. The views from the cottage are magnificent. We have walked to Blanchland & Allendale from Curlew. Blanchland has a lovely tea room called the White Monk and we would recommend the Golden Lion pub in Allendale for food as well. The cottage itself is well equipped and comfortable and the underfloor heating works very well in the colder months. We will be returning in 2021 for sure. We have seen hares, oyster catchers, curlews, hedgehogs, tawny owl, bats & loads of rabbits. We also saw a weasel on the fells on route to Allendale & black grouse on our walk to Blanchland. The small freezer in the cottage is really handy & if you plan it well, you will only need to do food shopping once in a week. Cranstons butchers in Hexham high street sells amazing black pudding.
