We had a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch here with live Jazz to accompany it. Really delicious food - just such flavoursome lamb and excellent crispy roast potatoes - and friendly, quick service made our day. They really try hard and deserve to do well. Top notch. Will definitely go again. Parking: Park in Gascoyne Way multistorey and walk through - 3 minutes walk.

Terrible Christmas lunch. Not got around to writing a review as was waiting for them to rectify but never did. Lovely setting but the service was poor. Food portions miniscule. Even the children in our party left hungry and had to get food on the way home. And it seems everyone else ate when they got home too. Entirely unacceptable when you pay 60+ a head! Nobody had more than 2 alcoholic drinks if that. It was absolutely not good enough to charge this. No Yorkshire puds, minimal veg, pigs in blankets were advertised and not served until we asked. They arrived in bowls by the time we had finished and 2/3 of the way through before any condiments were served. We were told pigs were 'on the house' when they were meant to be included. I wish I'd taken a picture because I know everyone's expectation of food portions is different but this was utterly ridiculous. Probably the most expensive roast we've been out for and without a doubt the smallest. I called to speak to the manager immediately upon leaving as our friends had organised and didn't want to make a fuss. Nobody ever called back and I called them twice throughout that week. You can't get it right all the time but what you can do is apologise and make people feel like it's worth returning. CUSTOMER SERVICE WORSE THAN THE FOOD PORTIONS and that's really saying something!! Save your money and go somewhere else!!

I highly recommend @thehummingbirdhertford. The decor is unique, staff are very friendly and attentive, the food was devine and the cocktails were incredible. My sister and I were made to feel very special
