The Aquatic Warehouse

Bought some aquarium plants from here at the weekend, including one of the little pots of aquarium moss they have available. I can only assume they pulled that moss straight from a local sewage drain, as I genuinely gagged at the smell the moment I opened the pot. I won't be buying more.

What a great place. I didn't get a good look at the fish (I was afraid I'll get some, and really don't have anymore space for them) but the aquarium plant section is amazing. By far the largest selection of plants I've seen to date. Healthy. And affordable, realistic prices. Please keep it up!

Today I visited aquatics warehouse in Hertford and was very alarmed at conditions they wore keeping turtles in there. There was around 20 musk turtles in one tiny tank with 0 animal and species requirements met. They had no basking or resting area, they wore in rather deep water for them with no basking lights. Basically they wore kept same as fish. But the worse part more then half of them had bite marks all over their necks and couple had missing toes and limbs from where they all been attacking each other. Ive expressed my concerns to the member of staff and he said he knew nothing about it, ask to speak to store manager, waiting over 10 mins but he never made any effort or even seemed interested in talking to me, probably just as much as he was interested in turtles welfare that he was selling. The way they wore kept was very cruel and many of them wore injured.
