Set in an old cinema, smack in the middle of the high street, this Wetherspoon is a good spot to refuel. Inside is beautifully decorated in an early to mid 20th century style with plenty of hints to the buildings past use. As a Wetherspoon, it has a wide range of food and drink as you would expect. The staff are great, really hard working, welcoming and friendly. To the rear of the building there is a small garden with a few tables, which is great for the spring and summer. This venue would have got a full 5 stars if it weren't for 2 points, both involving maintenance. 1. The coffee machines have definitely had a lot of use, and understandably so as the price is great. However they look very tired, with bits missing here and there, it doesn't look very attractive. 2. The toilets. This is the main point of the mark down. They look like they've been ten rounds with the entire world heavyweight boxing division, with some chimps with permanent markers thrown in. A couple of hand soap dispensers broken, hanging off the wall, the floor is completely stained with lime scale which has in turn collected dirt, graffiti on the cubicle doors. This is likely due to them being housed at the front of the building prior to the pub entrance proper. I suspect that they are used as public toilets for folk visiting Whitstable. Overall though, it's a nice venue.
