I had the Lamb Shank. It was excellent, and very tender. Also plenty of it.
Served by a very pleasant lad who had time to talk and be polite. Good service, meal arrived in 15 minutes.
I could not finish it and ordered less than i normally would, and was still full.
Excellent.
My friend Tony enjoyed it too.

We had the paneer in a dry masala spice rub, and meat samosas to start. The paneer was pleasant, and cooked well. The samosa was a little oily, and I think a chicken and vegetable mix, but described as only meat on the menu.
We then shared a lamb tikka biryani, which we found to be dry, and lacking of flavour - even having chosen the slightly more expensive lamb tikka, it added little to the overall taste of the dish. The accompanying vegetable curry was watery, and it too lacked flavour. We also ordered the murghi masala - a dish of chicken, minced lamb and egg. Well, we couldnt find the minced lamb, and again much flavour.
Its a shame, but I wanted to like this place. It has an old-school look, and I hoped for more than we experienced. The staff were pleasant, with the service in general efficient. Whitstable high street has I believe two other Indian restaurants, but they serve takeaways only. An alternative, with sit-down dining is very much needed, as the SoB has no competition to compare to, or to challenge them to do better.
