I am writing this on behalf of my 92 yr old Mother. My mother cared for my 98 yr old Father for 4 years and became too weak to care for him herself. It was suggested that Dad went into this home for one Month's Respite. In hindsight he should never have gone in as he never came out!! He became too weak to move and died in there about 3 Months later. I am sorry that this is lengthy but she wanted to let other people know what it was like to have her beloved husband of 67 yrs in that place! i know that Covid Restrictions did not help but the home could have done a lot more to alleviate our concerns: Communication was shocking! ~ Mum would ring and ring wanting to see how he was and no one would answer!. They made appointments to see a carer or nurse to ask about Dad's deteriorating health for 4-5 weeks but no one turned up at the appointments. Medications ~ Dad seemed to be very drowsy all the time and they were told 5-6 weeks later by a nurse "That they were giving him 'night time' tablets in the morning and when questioned about it "She said "Well that is what we do in my Country and then walked off'. My Brother went through all Dads requirements before he went into the home with Management (he was on the phone for an hour) but these notes were never given to the Staff so they didn't know that he could not see very well and was very Deaf... When told 5 weeks later "A nurse said that explains why he was such a messy eater" Mum used to feed him and the staff were told do this but we think it never happened as he lost several stone whilst he was there but we cannot prove this!!. No doctor atteneded to him for weeks even though the family were requesting it as he was losing loads of weight. The Home only rang Mum twice to say that Dad had fallen and when I asked a staff member a couple of days later how he was .. This carer didn't know that he had fallen even though she was caring for him!! What's done is done, i can never bring my Dad back i want to let everyone know about this Home! ~~ If you love your dear ones "Do not put them in this Home. When Mum was working out the finances, she realised that the Home owed her about 4000.00. She mentioned it to them and was eventually paid about 3 months later. Mum wrote to the management about Dads terrible experience about 4 Months ago and to this date she never has heard back from them.
