        This was our favorite lodging during our 9 day walk of Hadrian's Wall!! The accommodation is immaculate and very well appointed. Loved the view of the countryside and the charming pheasants and grouse that roamed outside our room. We stayed here as a rest day and to visit Vindolanda...well worth the visit!! The food was great!! We ordered dinner, had breakfast and got the packed lunches. Very nicely prepared food!! Hosts are very nice and accommodating. They are located near the most spectacular portions of Hadrian's Wall.

        It was a real treat to have stayed at Layside. Everything was high standard. Room was nice, clean and spacious, really comfy bed, great shower facilities and what a view! Great variety of choice of breakfast including fresh smoothie which was delightful. Kevin kindly dropped us off at the trail next day. We cannot recommend Layside enough :)
