American Golf - Hemingford Abbots Driving Range

Fantastic golf range and shop, I bought my first clubs as a kid here years ago. Recently went back to get irons, Tai is a legend who was fantastic helping with my custom fit and new irons. Darren is also really friendly and both made my experience a whole lot better. I will be popping back soon to use the range and getting fitted for a driver/putter. Would highly recommend the free custom fitting session.

Went for club fitting as a new starter. All-in-all the facility is great and staff is amazing. Nice range, cool tech, and a comfortable space. I was fitted by Tai and I could tell he genuinely wanted me to be set up for success and to enjoy the game of golf. No up-sales, professional, genuine, and passionate about what they do with tons of knowledge. Cant ask for anything else.

Purchased new Cobra Aerojet irons, Tai was a pleasure to deal with, excellent try-out session. Slight delay on delivery, not their fault, they kept me updated throughout. Tai & American Golf are highly reccomended, clubs are amazing too

Im sorry but this place doesnt cater for left handed golfers. There are two bays but one isnt usable. The one I was forced to use was tight up against the boundary fence. Worse still the mat is fixed to the floor and the tee positions are fixed. I tried using my driver on one of the tees and hit the upright marking the driver (Sim 2Max) not a cheap club. There isnt enough room. The bay isnt fit for purpose. The fence wont allow a left handed player to fade a ball youd hit the fence. The guys behind the counter in the shop werent helpful. This place is awful for left handed golfers. The prices are also variable. Sometimes they run happy hour then they dont! Apparently its the system. That aside youd be better and cheaper going to the local golf club in St Ives. Cheaper and much friendlier to left handers.
