Darvells have been making beautiful doors, window frames, stairway joinery and other custom features in oak for me for the last 25 years as I have been gradually restoring an old coach house. The children have grown up and left home since I started the project but Dave and his brothers have always been there for me when I needed them. Their work is invariably of the highest quality, faithful to the detailed specs provided, fairly priced and always delivered with a cheery smile that makes them great partners to have on such a long-term undertaking. I would recommend them to anyone.

Darvells Joinery are a really professional company to deal with and their work is first class. We have had a number of jobs carried out by them including our oak staircase. I can highly recommend them.

We used Darvells Joinery some considerable time ago, on recommendation from our builders , to undertake joinery works associated with a roof extension . We gave specific instructions for the joinery that included a new staircase between first and second floors, required to match the details of an existing stair and a pair of opening french doors in the new bedroom. In our professional capacity we had produced our own detailed drawings for the whole project. However this seemed to create a tension between us from the outset and it was clear that Darvells Joinery would have preferred to have implemented their own ideas. The joinery was well made but the overall outcome was not good. The staircase was manufactured with a handrail that was too high, in defiance of our clear instructions and approval from our building control consultants. As a result it proved uncomfortable and awkward to use. The french doors were manufactured too short leaving a problematic need for an infill to the top of the frame. This was despite a survey having been carried out by Darvells Joinery and clear site check dimensions being sent by our builders prior to manufacture. Mistakes happen, albeit potentially costly, but the response from Darvells Joinery was both arrogant and unyielding. They would attempt to rectify one mistake provided we accepted the other. We thought long and hard about taking the matter further but in the end and for peace of mind we have decided to put matters right at our own expense. For this reason we have finally decided to publish our views and although we consider the quality of workmanship to be fine, the consequential attitude of Darvells Joinery in our case was unforgivable. For this reason we cannot recommend this company.
