First bottle of Rioja was effervescent, enquiry took place on returning said bottle by staff gurning as my word wasnt good enough. Replaced with a more expensive Rioja which was decidedly below average. By the time I got back to the table my starter was already there. For the price the starters were not value for money. Decidedly below average. Main course - the cutlery was from a shelf adjacent to the bar. It was somewhat battered and bruised and blunt. Salt and pepper mills alongside them, got to the table and found they were both empty. No serviettes. Lamb rump and salsa hit the mark for my wife. The dauphinoise was unseasoned, lacking in salt, garlic, thyme and cream. Basically a lump of stodgy layered potato. The port wine jus was suitable as a the accompaniment. However the same jus does not go with the pork belly and scallops. Overpowered everything despite having no seasoning. The pork crackling might as well have been Formica. The pork was dry and the fat congealed and awful. Not melt in the mouth at all. The only plus was the pint of Neckoil on arrival. As for the refurb and facelift, it is akin to lipstick on a pig. Just avoid! Truly shocking along with the uncleared tables and the dried potato and other food residues on the bench seats.

I reserved the snug area on 29th April for my sisters baby shower. Alice & Stephanie (sorry if I got your name wrong) were extremely helpful and made sure we was pleased with everything! The food was also delicious! I would definitely recommend The Fishery Inn to anyone looking to host a little get together!

Asked for a margherita at 10 pm on Saturday even though they advertise on their menu they said they couldnt do. Would be appropriate if they would have time limits on their menus. Disappointed ..
