Sports Bar

The bartender got mad at me because my feet were on the couch at the end of the night. Bar was basically empty. Maybe its an English fo paux but this is a hotel for travelers. People are tired and want to relax. Didnt seem necessary to call me out. They have a pool table, lots of TVs, a mediocre beer selection and ample seating. Its decent for a hotel bar in a Holiday Inn.

Completely lied to me over the phone. Called ahead of time to see if bar would be open late (around 1am onwards). Was told it would be open. Nope. Completely closed. I also made sure to confirm Id be permitted to patron the bar even though Im not a guest at the hotel. I was told I could as well. Hotel staff then (understandably) asked me who I was and if I was staying with them. I explained I had called earlier to confirm. Once I arrived, one of the hotel staff said he had no recollection of me calling since hes the only one thats been answering the phone all night. Okay sure. Have a good night. Went out of my way to come here thinking it would be open so I could watch a game, then head over to Heathrow to catch a flight. Better luck next time.

This is the bar at the fairly recently opened Holiday Inn Heathrow Bath Road. Really nice modern fitout, with a large bar area and many seating options. The bar also has a pool table, adding to the experience. It's next to the Hi Pizza restaurant, with it possible to pay for your drinks by charging to your hotel room, whether at the Holiday Inn or the adjoining Staybridge suites. When we visited in July 2019 the staff were helpful and friendly, with the bar having a nice atmosphere despite being a little quiet.
