Holy Cross Priory Care Home

It is a care home for the elderly mainly of the Catholic faith the residents are well looked after and it has a priory in Summer the grounds are lovely the staff are very helpful and there are sisters on site highly recommended

My father spent a year at Holy Cross Priory Care home following 3 years in a flat on site. It is in a wonderful setting, with good sized rooms and a good menu. The first months were ok, although he never settled very well, missing his independence. After he became ill he was diagnosed with dementia and unfortunately because they are residential they wanted him to leave. His care in the last few months was inadequate and no attempt was made to meet his need to walk daily outside. Little things were neglected such as ensuring his lights and TV were on. I was only asked to one Care Review during his time there. When he left no one said goodbye despite the fact he had spent 4 years as a resident onsite. We had notice to move him and after a search found a wonderful place for him where he has been very happy and content. Always smiling and so well cared for. I'm afraid it has showed up the inadequacies of Holy Cross.
