The products and services offered by Together Commercial Finance Ltd are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or the Consumer Credit Act and therefore do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service. Although this is stated in their T&Cs this is obviously not something they specifically call your attention to when you are taking out a loan. Given you are probably not considering a bridging loan under usual circumstances, you may be under time pressure to obtain the loan and therefore not take the time to fully look into what this actually means. In my opinion it is a disgrace that such a company are able to advertise to individual, retail consumers on primetime TV when in reality their products and services are not fit for general consumer purpose.
So what does the fact that they are not regulated by the FCA actually mean to you as a customer? Absolutely nothing if everything with your bridging loan completes as expected. However, the minute you have any sort of issue (and your view on whether you are likely to have any issues depends on your view of whether a financial services organisation will treat you fairly ) this will absolutely start to become a problem.
You can raise a complaint with their frankly incompetent customer services team who will smugly respond telling you that they are not regulated by the FCA and therefore you have absolutely no ability to complain or escalate to any regulator. Their attitude to customer complaints reflects the fact that they know you have no further route to escalate and therefore they take full advantage of this position of power.
At the point that you need to complain you have about as much protection as if you were dealing with a loan shark.
UPDATE 14/10/22 - The below response from Together unfortunately completely proves my point above so I'm glad readers can see at least some evidence of this. Basically, "we've issued you with our final response - tough luck, because there is nowhere else you can go if you disagree with the decision or the way you've been treated". My only hope now is that people read this review and decide to go elsewhere.
