Living in the states, one of the few things I cant get is a good pie. Whenever Im back in the UK to see my mother, I get pork pieS from here. They have always been delicious. But today(early Saturday morning) I bought a large pie and it was inedible. Someone must have had an accident with the salt, it was as though theyd added it twice or used buckets instead of tablespoons. Im so disappointed as I head home tomorrow. In response : reviews are intended to provide an averaged view of customers experiences of an establishment. Im sure youre not suggesting you would try to persuade me not to post my review just because you provided a refund/voucher ? Good & Bad reviews are beneficial to both potential customers and establishments that strive to maintain superior product quality. A negative review should never be taken personally. As you say, mistakes happen, I will not hold it against you and will return for another pie in the future.

A local, traditional, well established bakery that goes the extra mile. The food is delicious, from breakfasts (bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, black puddin', mushrooms - the lot or any combination either in a tray or barm, Vienna, roll - whatever. My mouths watering now!), to pies. Not just the usual pies either but also Balti pies and Chilli pies too! Oh and their delicious ciabatta pizza slices. Then there are the usual breads but also artisan breads and loafs etc. And a fine selection of cream cakes, cup cakes, tarts and cookies. If you ask the staff nicely they will even take all the calories and fat out of the sweets by magic! (For the nutters out there, that last sentence was a joke. The staff at Herds are not witches and wizards). Speaking of the staff. They are, to a woman, great. They have a sense of humour, are helpful and hard work . Sorry, hard working. In summery then. Peter Herds excellent. I can't recommend enough!
