White Peak Distillery

What a fantastic distillery! My wife and I spent a wonderful afternoon here on the 1st of April for the tour and tasting. We've been to a great many distilleries all over the UK and in all honesty, that which has been achieved here in such a short time is nothing short of remarkable. The team at white Peak have a very 'analogue hands on' approach to distilling (just gaze at their incredible, non-computer regulated spirit safe with it's dual control wheels- it's truly a thing of beauty). Max and Claire Vaughan have created something really rather special in Ambergate and the results speak for themselves, not only in terms of their (well deserved) success but also in the form of an evergrowing range of exceptional single malts, the subtlety and flavour profiles of which belie their youthful pedigree. I was lucky enough to enjoy a bottle of their inaugural 'Wireworks' release last year and the new 'Caduro' is every bit as delicious. Our tour guide, Caine, was as welcoming as he was evidently passionate about the entire operation and it's plain to see that although barley, water and yeast are the three main ingredients of a good single malt whisky, love is surely the fourth. In short, White Peak Distillery is an absolute 'must visit' that will delight whisky drinkers and non-whisky drinkers alike. Many thanks for a splendid afternoon. Mike and Zita

Had a great day visiting the distillery today. Really friendly staff and a knowledgeable and engaging guide. The tasting was lovely too and we loved the free whiskey glasses to take home! This is a cracking young distillery and you can feel the love they put into their products and the passion they have for their craft. They also have a fantastic green ethic. Loved every minute.

Wonderful distillery next to the river Derwent by the A6 Matlock Road. Their Specialty is Whisky but Gin lovers will be pleased to know they have a range of Gins beside their Whisky offering and a some Cask Aged Rum. There are Gin tasters available if you would like to try before you buy. You can also get a discount on Gin refills if you bring your empty bottle back! Well worth the trip.
