I rang about my live view not working on my camera. My 1st call went to voicemail. I left a quick message. Not long after they ( Peter ) called back. Long story short it was decided not to proceed. Peter was vey knowledgeable and a real pleasure to speak to. Real good old fashioned customer service. Just a pity I didn't use his services.

Could not do what I was asking, but this was explained and I understood the reasons. He was very helpful though and knows what he was talking about. I would use him if needed in the future.

A task that I knew would take a while and one that I have been putting off for many years is that of transferring all my old MiniDV HD tapes to my computer. However, whilst in a period of lockdown and being furloughed I probably would not get a better opportunity. I found my old Camcorder and then had an effort to find the cables and power supply. To then realise I needed a Firewire port. Fortunately, I still had an old Windows XP machine that had a Firewire card installed. I got that working and connected the Camcorder up. Unfortunately, that is where my problems began. I had not used it for a long time and it had developed a fault the cassette loading mechanism would not retract and there was an error code of C:32:11 on the screen. I Googled various fixes but none helped. I found Peter at Camcorder Surgery and made an enquiry. He was quick to reply and confident he could fix my issue. I didnt really want to spend a lot on the repair as did not plan on using the camera bar from transferring the old footage. I got my camcorder to him and in around a week he had fixed the problem together with a temperamental problem there was with the electronic lens protector which I was happy for him to leave as what not an issue for what I needed it for. He repaired the camera at a very reasonable price and I have now managed to successfully transfer all my old tapes to my computer for posterity. I am very happy with the service, Peter knows his stuff and would not hesitate to recommend him.
