    Spacious, comfortable house in a pretty village. It made a good base - but could be a great one if the many small flaws were addressed. The kitchen (especially cupboards) and carpets would benefit from a deep clean, most of the window blinds are broken, a tap doesn't work, shower and towel rails very loose, the cellar is literally a tip. A couple of days work would make a lot of positive difference.

    The location is great but that's about it. We arrived to a number of problems. There is so much we could have complained about if we wanted to ie 1. Broken blinds 2. Filthy microwave 3. Mouldy shower curtain 4. Unstable shower head 5. Doors not shutting properly 6. Only one shelf in oven 7. Tiny muddy garden patch 8. Balcony covered in cigarette ends 9. Cracked floor tiles in bathroom 10. Draughty windows 11. Rubbish under sofas and beds 12. Light over oven not working 13. Hoover not functioning However we just dealt with what we could and got on with enjoying our break, a first Christmas following death of a parent. We had seen reviews about carpets etc could do with a clean but again just thought cream carpets in a rental house are not going to be perfect. We took shoes off at front door and made sure dogs were cleaned down after having been in muddy garden or out on walk. It was on our return home that we were massively let down. Money was taken from house keeping bond due to dirty carpets and "soiled" bed! So called evidence was seen in form of photos but when we questioned which bed it was... no response. When we asked to see proof that the clearly old looking stains were done by us... no response. Flip they even complained that the scuff mat by door was dirty! The cleaners arrived as we were leaving and we spoke to them to explain the hoover wasn't working properly and we could find a dustpan. They told us not to worry as the carpets weren't spotless anyway and they had their own equipment. We booked through Sykes and would never book through them again. We originally reviewed that this was a great place to stay and as it wasn't pristine was great for outdoor lovers. The minute we raised a dispute our review was removed. I have no doubt this one will be removed as well. But if you do book here then take photos or a video on your arrival of anything which could be seen as damaged or dirty. Or as I have been advised for stays anywhere do a complete walk through video on arrival. It might save you having to pay extra after your visit.
