Vanguard & Galatea Cottages at Whitby Lighthouse

Wow, what a place! We spent 5 nights at the Vanguard cottage and it was money well spent. The view is amazing, the place is super cozy and it almost felt like a second home. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and a kitchen so well equipped that some people dont even have that at home. The rooms are nice, airy and clean. The welcome hamper is a really nice touch. We even received a call from the housekeeper the first night, just to check if everything was alright. What a nice gesture. Parking is available and pets are welcome! The location is great, obviously the view speaks for itself. It is a bit remote but not too far away from Whitby and the narrow roads are easy to navigate. The cottage is just on the popular Cleveland Way, so you can walk either to Whitby Abbey or towards the south. Otherwise the place is nice and quiet. As the cottage is right at the sea on a cliff, dont be surprised if there is fog even during the day. Even if Whitby is in full sunshine, you might experience mist here and slightly cooler temperatures. There is no WiFi at the place and the mobile coverage is almost non-existent, this is something you have to prepare for. Perfect for digital detox though. There is a landline phone in case you need, but walking just a few minutes from the cottage gives you phone reception. WiFi would be nice to check the weather and to help planning the next day. Overall, it is a great place! Highly recommended!
