Just returned from another cracking weekend at Poverty Cottage ,,what a great little CL ,,nice and quite location but easy enough to walk back into Whitby,,being just over a mile and a half to walk to the famous Abbey above the town and its now equally famous Abbey brewery,, Jo and Stu are brilliant hosts at Poverty Cottage and most helpful in sorting any arising problems and very knowledgeable about their area and surroundings location,,

Motorhome with 2 adults and border terrier from Bognor Regis Sussex. Stayed three nights before Christmas 2022. Great central point for walking to Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. Both worth a visit. Great coastal walks to both. Friendly hosts and very welcoming. Good value for money. Extra charge for electric if you go over 10 units. But only at cost. Think this is the only way forward for these places to stay open. Thanks Jo for the festive slow vodka. I wrote this review before I had the vodka.

Great spot at the top of a hill looking towards Whitby Abbey. It can get windy so be prepared to rock and roll! If you like walking you can walk down "The Trod" to the Abbey and into the town or halfway down and then pick up the coastal walk to the Abbey and town. There were many more walks which we couldn't do in the time we had but hope to do in the future. This is a lovely peaceful site, Jo was really helpful and knowledgeable when planning walks and visits. Just a little tricky emptying our grey water tank because of its position relative to our drain - we had to use buckets to transport the water. It would also be fantastic to have a toilet and shower unit as this would have made this site perfect for me... But we really enjoyed our stay here in this lovely quiet setting and will hopefully be back to explore a little more in the future.
