The House at Hawes

Just had a wonderful weekend stay with family to celebrate my 70th birthday . Fiona and Tim went above the usual great service to decorate the house and bake a special cake for me on our arrival . All the family loved the rooms and the wonderful service provided . We all said that we are looking forward to returning and loved florence joining us in the lounge . Rooms: All the rooms are amazing and so different and the family loved looking at all the other rooms we had taken .

Before writing about the House at Hawes, it is only fair to mention that we had stayed with Fiona and Tim at their previous venture, Eighteen 97, in Goatham, so we had an inkling of what to expect. When Tim and Fiona opened the door on our arrival, it was more like old friends welcoming us into their home, than a visit to a B&B. Their warm smiles rolled back the years to our previous meeting, and it was those same smiles that greeted us every morning for breakfast, until sadly it was time to say, "until next time!". We stayed in The Snug, a spacious room with a large bathroom, and a huge super-comfy bed that totally envelopes the weary traveller, and hugs him until he falls asleep. The room has the added feature of the neighbouring sheep coming down the hill, almost to the Snug's window. If you manage to climb out of the luxurious bed, you can be sure of (one of) the very best breakfasts in the U.K. No, that is not an exaggeration. Tim and Fiona make sure that they take care of all tastes and requirements, without dropping their high standards for one second. And after breakfast at the House at Hawes, you will not even want to think of another meal until supper time! Our only complaint - that we had to leave. Thank you, Tim and Fiona for three wonderful days.
