The Old Market Restaurant & Bar

Called in for Sunday lunch most other places in the area were booked up. Ordered food came quicky but had to go looking for knives and forks, as our food was getting cold. Had to ask for a steak knife as the beef was undercooked could not cut it. Disappointing. Poor value for money the chicken was burnt. Very Small portions. We did not leave a tip.

Racist , I can only presume ? Over the Queens jubilee we visited this restaurant and sat outside in the beautiful old street to soak up the atmosphere with my family and a couple of friends . We walked in to order our food and drinks to be told to hang on while the bartender walked off and a lady walked out from the back , looked at us and walked off. The bartender then came back and told us the kitchen was closed. We were a bit disappointed but thought wed have a quick a drink there instead. As we walked to our table outside a couple of young ladies ( white ladies) walked in , they ended up sitting inside just the other side of the glass . Within 15 mins they both had an amazing looking plate of food in front of them they they were tucking into .

Visited this restaurant with my best friend, looking for nice night out in Hastings. Viewed the menu outside and looked very appealing so went inside and waiter was warm and friendly. We were seated and ordered food. I ordered pork belly 16 and my friend local haddock and chips. 12. When the food arrived it looked lovely but upon eating, i soon discovered that my pork belly was almost all fat and no meat. I eat this dish often and i know how it should be, this was not acceptable at all. My friends fish was mostly batter and skin, soggy and hardly any meat or flavour. The batter was thick with no flavour whatsoever, just watery and horrible. We deliberated whether to complain as the waiter was so lovely but decided we must as it was so awful. The manager (who we discovered was actually the owner) eventually stomped over and asked us with hands on hips what was the problem. After explaining she then excused us of lying and told us shes never had complaints which is as lie as these reviews show. She then stomped back to where she had come, never coming back to explain or offer an outcome or resolution. We then after a good while waiting asked for the bill and thankfully our meals were removed from the bill. We can safely say we will NEVER return to this establishment! Rude rude rude!
