Have to declare an interest since I'm a student of the school, started in January and loving every minute of it. For that those versed in Martial arts and combatives, Wing Chun is highly rated as a close in combat skill, emphasizing hand techniques, which in some ways allied it to Kajukenbo and the seemingly new kid on the block, Krav Maga, but WC take a more scientific and thoughtful approach to the subject starting with the logical assumption that sooner or later your opponent will be bigger, stronger and faster than you. On that basis, balance, focus and sensitivity to the attack become the key factors in the system making it ideal for smaller people. The teaching is informal and at time just a wee bit "mad sock Monday" (Students will understand) The "Kwoon" is well equipped and there seems to be a class on most days of the week, and several times a day! Be warned it will cause you to think and possibly to do homework as well. But well worth any effort you put in. Ron Cook.
