A day after treatment I'm still furious at what just happened. Just the highest level of ineptitude. They failed to address a specific issue for which I had originally booked the appointment (they had received x-rays and notes from the referring dentist). After sitting down i was immediately railroaded into having two fillings with absolutely zero communication before starting - the dentist just wasn't interested. As soon as I sat down she looked in my mouth for 15 seconds max (accidentally hitting my teeth really hard with her mirror, which happened throughout the appointment) and just cracked on with drilling offering no anaesthetic (!) or explanation. Actually felt like i was cattle rather than a human being. I asked her whether she'd received any x-rays for the original issue and she was just really vague - utterly uninterested in getting any context with which to plan her work. Didn't bother to look at them, or do a new X-ray, before drilling. After drilling the first hole, which was incredibly painful, I asked "are you not numbing me up for this?" She basically laughed at me and just went ahead with the second, which was excrutiating. The whole process was rushed to the extreme. Got to get 'em out the door eh? This all happened so quickly I didn't have a chance to gather my thoughts to refuse treatment and walk out. But I guess it was too late by the time I had a drilled hole in my tooth. The second filling feels really wrong in my mouth and I'm in pain from it now, so I've booked another dentist to review what on earth she has done. I have had quite a few fillings in my 45 years and I know the process, the planning and the execution, and how long dentists take over it. This one was different in the worst way possible. So slapdash, it just felt like I was an animal receiving dental work - that's probably running down vets to be honest. Just a horror show from start to finish. Original issue unresolved. Caused new issue which I now have to correct. I'll be complaining to head office for sure and depending on what my new dentist finds out, legal action.
