Don Thomson House Residential Care Home - Sanctuary Care

The place looks nice enough but their claim to offer dementia care is an outright lie. Edit: Had a family member in this place with dementia who was only there for a week before they said they "couldn't accommodate her needs" and left us rushing to urgently find a home and care that could. Don Thompson seem to be the only one that couldn't manage her. Sad we had to waste that time and effort finding it. Maybe they can handle residents with really early dementia symptoms but they don't seem able to handle someone with moderate to severe dementia. They shouldn't be describing themselves as offering dementia care in that case though.

I had to pay a visit here in a professional capacity and was thoroughly impressed as to the standard at which they achieved with the implementation of covid safety measures. Temps taken and recorded on arrival, names, etc. All members of staff wore appropriate PPE, and were happy and welcoming. All staff seemed well informed of their residents and interacted in a friendly but professional manner. Hats off to all the staff, whom are making Don Thomson House a happy, safe and welcoming home.
