On the 15th February 2022 I attended Keith Walker opticians for a pre-booked contact lense check. On arrival after taking my initial details the receptionist (short blonde hair) proceeded to question why I had not booked in for a sight test together with a contact lense test given I was overdue for a sight test. I explained I only wear lenses and did not want nor require a sight test. She attempted to get me to agree to a full sight test twice more at which point I replied and I just said I only wear lenses. I felt awkward but that my position had been made clear even with the unnecessary questioning. If I only wish to pay for one particular service and not the full 'package' there is no reasonable justification for refusing my business. I was then called into a room with the optician for the test to start. I believe his name is Phil. He started explaining to me my sight test was overdue and quite forcefully tried to get me to agree to the full test. Faces were pulled. I was made to feel awkward. I explained I did not need it but I may book back in in the next few months. He pointed out it has been 2 years as I reminded him there had been a global pandemic in that time. He then stated he would refuse to serve me again if I were to ask for a contact lense test only a further time in the future. He commenced the contact lense test. He then questioned me how I had made 3 months worth of contact lenses last a year. At this point I was already the subject of rude customer service and it was just a unnecessary comment as if he was under the impression I must be dumb if I am refusing a full sight test. I replied and confirmed I buy my lenses from vision direct. This did not seem to be well received. He then proceeded (knowing that I do not always buy my lenses from them direct) to add an order for lenses and solution to my bill without my permission. I already felt completely awkward and embarrassed by the prior questioning and did not feel I could refuse. I paid 81 at the till. 25 of which was the only necessary part and in fact the only charge I had agreed to. I buy lenses online because I can get them for 30 cheaper than what Keith Walkers charge and without the rude customer service to boot. Abysmal rude customer service. I will never be returning.
