Dined here whilst staying in the area. Having looked at the menu online we had high hopes but it didn't deliver. Good bits: Quite a nice setting. Lady working front of house was polite and attentive. Not so good bits: We were the first people to arrive at the restaurant. Another couple arrived shortly after. They were seated directly next to us. Being 2 feet away from another couple in an otherwise empty restaurant is uncomfortable. I can hear everything they say and vice versa. Starter (duck doughnut) was interest ing but dry as a dish. It was also compromised of more doughnut than duck. The main was venison. This tasted good but was totally overcooked. Reminiscent of my mum's Sunday roast. Also some very odd flavour combinations. The venison and red wine sauce were great. The additional pickled pears had a vague bubble gum flavour and had no business being on the plate. It was just jarring. My wife has scallops for start which were good. However, the Guinea fowl plate was very dry. Conclusion I dont mind paying anything for good food but when it's either not executed well or not thought out I feel short changed. And I didn't walk away feeling these two courses were worth 100. We didn't stay for desert. I doubt I would ever return. Parking: Couldn't find the actual car park. Signage is very limited.
