We visited with friends on a Saturday evening, looking forward to the experience and delicious food. The hotel & restaurant are stunning in decor but Im afraid the food tragically let the whole experience down. The starters were tasteless & cold, I had the mushroom & my husband had the moules. How could they come from the kitchen cold? Hoping for an improvement with the main, our cod loin arrived sat on top of 4 halves of new potatoes & 3 leaves of kale. The menu advertised crushed potatoes & purple sprouting broccoli. After questioning this, we were told they were out of season? Once again the food was cold & had little flavour. We complained to two waitresses & each time we were offered the cheese sharing board, by which time we were ready to get out of there! Needless to say we wont be returning! Harrogate has many restaurants & competition is high. Im sorry to say that Carters wont be at the top of our list to revisit anytime soon. Vegetarian options: There are a couple of vegan options including a vegan steak but this comes with triple beef cooked chips! So not really vegan after all!

One of the waiters wanted to send us away because all the other tables were already set for a bus tour group's dinner at 7 p.m. There was a table in the dark corner, where the other guests were already sitting. Wir wollten gegen 14 Uhr zum Afternoon-Tea, bis auf vier besetzte Tische war das Restaurant leer. Einer der Kellner wollte uns schon wegschicken, weil alle anderen Tische schon fr das Dinner einer Busreisegruppe um 19 Uhr eingedeckt waren. Es gab dann doch einen Tisch in der dunklen Ecke, in der auch die anderen Gste schon saen. Wahrscheinlich war da der Laufweg fr die Mitarbeiter am krzesten. Gechlortes Wasser (in Harrogate!!!!) und Papierservietten vermitteln auch kein Gefhl von Luxus.
