Hello one and all ? Where does one begin? We have all heard or read about abuse in care homes! From financial to physical and even emotional. So we as good citizens we entrust our beloved, into a system that we all hope will do what they say? But what if your loved one suffers from Dementia, again we are asked to trust the establishment. But Dementia sufferers have a thing under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 called "Best Interest" (Look it up) Ok I will come to the point....You know that saying? "If it is too good to be true, then it probably is! I now refer to a care home/assisted living in Harrogate North Yorks. (Starbeck) I put a camera in the living room and then foolishly told a Social Worker after she gave me her word not to tell anyone! Liar she told everyone and whilst I was not there (I live in the Midlands) they found the camera and removed it, but they also wiped some of it? Now it was not put there because I feared Physical Abuse, but because I was told by an ex-carer (who worked there) that the allocation of time that is given to a resident to assist them in various scenarios (Which you pay for) It seems that if 15mins was allocated but some carers were only spending 5- 10 mins but booking 15mins. This in itself may not sound as much, but over time with other residents also affected, the fraud can mount up especially when the charge is 28+ per hour. Carers are also told (newbies) to pad out the time by recording in the daily book, washed pots??? My own situation of my loved one relates to 1 cup and 1 side-plate. By the way they even lied about that, because if a cup is washed, there would be NO staining, but my Mothers were all stained (Which is a thing she does not like) When I was allowed to visit (That is another story) I would try to clean the cups.
