For reference, the review is one for a number of factors, firstly it would have been nice to know that the property was next to a building site. Multiple homes not just one. The builders had a big boom box, not all tunes to my liking. We were going to book somewhere else, you took commercial decision to take us for less nights, that was your choice and I assume taken because it would have been empty for four nights. We had recently rehomed dog from Battersea, our dog sitter caught covid and was unable to have the dog. We explained and you said it wouldn't be a problem as you let dogs stay in the property anyway. The dog was unfortunately ill and made mess on carpet. We informed your husband at the time and he told us not to worry about it. We retuned later to find bottle of cleaning fluid had been left it kitchen, would have been nice to have been asked before you entered the room while we were not there. Lets be honest, the carpet already had more than one stain on it we probably did you a favour. The windows only stay open if you put something to hold them open. The entrance door is in the kitchen, if there is a fire in the kitchen, there is not a fire exit, I strongly suggest you talk to your local fireperson for advice on this, it certainly is not fit for building regulations. The fact you run a business and expect me to believe the cleaning does not have access to a spare key is why I stormed out, also it was 150 and your husband looked very uncomfortable. Other that Knaresborough is a lovely place and most of the people are really friendly.

We found Courtyard Cottage on the off chance and it will always be our first choice now when we come to the Harrogate/Knaresborough area. A lovely little cottage overlooking a delightful courtyard (with birdfeeders well attended - by goldfinches amongst other birds). Perfect for a couple. Nice double bed and a bed settee suitable for children. If I'm remembering correctly, dogs are allowed too. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. If you fancy giving the self-catering a miss, there's also a terrific restaurant up the road called Six Poor Folk.
