    Beautiful church with a lovely big churchyard with rabbits running about and the sound of song thrush. public footpath nearby. Worth a look. Also has a Facebook page with evening events listed.

    Lots of character and clearly loved by the local community. The church regularly hosts events. I am attending a talk there this evening. I will add photos in due course.

    St Mary's, Harkstead is a Grade ll listed building and has a south porch leading to the nave with a south aisle. The chancel with north vestry and west tower of C15th. The north wall is C12th whilst one of the windows has a C13th wall painting. The tower has 6 bells 2 dating from 1611 (Miles Graye, Colchester) 2 from 1711 (Thos Gerdener, Sudbury and 2 1983 fromthe Whitechapel Bell Foundry. The church is normally open to view.
