I suppose that your house and your car are the two possessions that you own that you might get most nervous about when someone is standing there, about to deliver the news to you about how much they think they could be worth. After all, they're probably worth far more in your eyes than they might be to someone else aren't they. Enter James Ankers from Barker Stone, with a valuation that not only exceeded what I had in my head, but with a whole truck load of enthusiasm and passion to back up why he wanted the instruction, it was impossible to put the house for sale with anyone else. There's then a moment when you sit back and think have I just been sucked in by a sales pitch, or been caught up by the excitement of an unrealistic valuation, have I just heard what I wanted to hear..... The short answer is no. James did exactly what he said he was going to do, and he did it with so much energy it was nothing short of incredible. Valuation done on the Wednesday, instruction given on the Thursday, the most amazing photos and video were taken on Saturday - honestly the attention to detail was second to none. Jame's colleague Simon is a master of the lens. Listing went live on Tuesday, first viewing booked for the next day within 10 mins of the listing going up. 9 viewings booked for the Saturday, full feedback provided on Monday, 4 second viewings, 4 offers, sold for asking price. The buyers wanted to be in very quickly and I had no chain, so from start to finish the process took less than 8 weeks, all expertly managed and chased along by James. The only thing I could knock him on is his choice of football team(!), other than that, he did everything he said he would and more, and he did it in a way that I felt I was dealing with a friend. I cannot recommend Barker Stone enough. If you're looking to sell, give them a call. You won't be disappointed.

We can only echo what has been written previously about James Ankers. When we first met James he completed our valuation and marketing in a timely manner. Right from the outset he was the utmost professional. He gave us a realistic valuation, set our expectations and all done with boundless energy. He carried out numerous viewings and provided meaningful feedback. Unfortunately, the first sale of our property fell through but James always made himself available via e mail and phone. He responded to all our messages and queries in a punctual and informative matter. The second sale went through without a hitch and James ensured this time round there were no issues. He had a complete grip on all communications and the timescales involved. We recommended James to friends and he sold their house within two weeks of the property going on the market. James has a personal touch and conducts the viewings himself and his experience and professionalism shines through. If you are looking to market your property then give James a ring. He WILL sell your house.

I WOULD STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS AGENT!!!! AS A LOCAL PROPERTY INVESTOR I HAD A DEAL AGREED AND ACCEPTED WITH THESE AGENTS ON HILLBURY ROAD, WARLINGHAM. I DEALT WITH A CHAP AT BARKERSTONE CALLED RICHARD. I PAID FOR A VALUATION, LOCAL SEARCHES AND STARTED THE TRANSACTION AND EVEN PAID A DEPOSIT TO LAWYERS. I WAS THEN WAS RANDOMLY TOLD THE VENDOR DECIDED TO SELL VIA ANOTHER AGENT, NOT THEMSELVES??? I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY STRANGE AND KEPT ASKING WHY THE SOLD SIGN WAS NEVER PUT UP, OR TAKEN DOWN FROM ADVERTISEMENT. I RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE SOLD SIGN WENT UP WITH THERE COMPANY LOGO SO THEY HAD BEEN DISHONEST AND SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE. HOW CAN A HOUSE BUYER HAVE PEACE OF MIND IF AN AGENT ACTS LIKE THIS? IN MY OPINION THIS IS AN AGENT WHO ARE NOT HONEST AND WILL LET CLIENTS SPEND HARD EARNED MONEY, AND THEN MOVE TO ANOTHER BUYER EVEN AFTER AN OFFER IS ACCEPTED AND LAWYERS HAVE STARTED, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLY UNPROFESSIONAL. EVEN IF YOU GET MORE MONEY WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE AS A MEANS OF RESPECT YOU GIVE THE OPPORTUNITY OF A COUNTER OFFER TO THE PERSON THAT HAS ALREADY STARTED WITH LAWYERS AND NOT JUST MAKE UP A STORY!!

Having sold our house in Whyteleafe 3 times with Purplebricks - but none of the sales reaching exchange we moved to a local estate agent and have been so supported throughout the process; offers were validated, buyers reassured when issues were in the chain so the sale stayed on track. James was fantastic, coming to do the valuation in a timely way, photos were better than we imagined given the house was now empty, and both James and Richard provided great communication from day 1. Richard has the patience of a saint and would make a super counsellor! When you are selling a home you want not just the best salespeople - you need the office part of the process to be as effective; to work as part of the wider team of buyers and solicitors too - they were faultless. Responding promptly to any query and retaining a warmth - even when I possibly drove them nuts! I and my husband can wholly recommend Richard and James at Barker Stone in Caterham - the only mistake we made was not going to them initially!
