I had a very similar experience to the other review that encountered a problem with damage to a favourite blackcoat. I had taken it there while the sleeve was damp from red wine. I did not want to sponge it out myself even though it was black incase it was eaten by moths and dried crumpled. It was a black article so you couldnt see any stains. My husband took it to Lewis and Wayne where we have been long term clients. Peter advised him it needed a specialist clean due to the fur on the hood and charged my husband 65. He personally hung it up so the sleeve could dry before sending it to the specialist cleaner. I was horrified by the cost so went in myself the following day to query why it was so much to clean a sleeve and he said the whole coat had to be cleaned due to fur trim. I almost took it back but sadly didnt. Long story short my coat was returned to me with the sleeve so badly scorched that there was an actual iron imprint on it. I was very upset and showed Peter and he said he would send it back to the specialist cleaner and get the owner onto it. When we went to collect it again Peter said that the specialist cleaner had taken photographic evidence that the coat arrived to him like that - damaged/ scorched and with the iron imprint. When I challenged Peter about the fact that he personally received the coat from my husband with a damp sleeve, hung it up and advised the best course of action, he took no responsibility and said he was only relaying what the specialist cleaner had said. My husband asked to see her photos which were obviously inconclusive but I doubt they photograph every item they receive as routine. I was distraught, upset and in total disbelief that as a loyal client of around 10 years that not only my coat was damaged and no remorse shown but suddenly in his view I had scorched the coat, ironed it and damaged it prior to bringing it to him. No memory of what actually happened - the damp sleeve etc - it was a like he had never seen it and was suddenly just a middleman. I asked why would I waste 65 to dry clean coat with iron imprints up the sleeve with scorch marks where the fabric had rippled. I was extremely upset by the blatant denial of any responsibility only for Peter to say I dont know why you are so upset. It is a coat, not your life. I walked out in tears and I left my husband to deal with the situation. Lewis and Wayne refunded him the 65 for the specialist clean and did not charge for a dress we were collecting and handed my husband the items and that was that. Peter said it was my word against theirs. Pretty much the same response that the other reviewer received ie - it seems we both damaged our own items before bringing them for a dry clean. He said to my husband that I could go back in and continue the conversation when I calmed down which is really pointless as clearly Im not the one with the specialist iron and the dry cleaning solutions that ruined my coat so until Peter takes full responsibility for the damage done to my coat there is no discussion to be had. What should have happened was we are terribly embarrassed and very sorry for what has happened. Please let us know how we can resolve this situation as you are a long time valued customer and we are mortified that we irreparably damaged your lovely coat. It was an accident and we want to try and make ok. Instead of the specialist cleaner took photos that show it was like that. Its your word against theirs - they said it was like that when you brought it in and looking all offended as Im standing there in tears insisting that the coat was brought straight in with the damp sleeve and certainly not scorched with an iron.

I have used their services for the last year, and there's never been a mixup or any issues. Always receive good service and in emergencies they have been nothing but helpful.

A super dry cleaning firm that is willing to work with you to achieve the best result. No other firm would have laundered my faux fur bedspread but Lewis and Wayne took on the challenge and have done a beautiful job. It looks as good as new! I will not go anywhere else.
