The project was largely, laying porcelain tiles on pedestals in a courtyard garden, with some fixed. Additionally, to construct a cedar panel screen. I obtained a scale drawing of the site and contacted Vista with my requirements. They arranged for a contractor (Kamil) to visit and quote. I accepted the quote. Kamil turned up on the delayed start day. He delivered the materials and announced that his sub-contractor (Marcin) would be carrying out the job. Marcin started, did a good job, but ran out of materials for the cedar panelling, after a few days delay Kamil came with some wood which did not match the original, it was old & dirty. I rejected it and asked that wood similar to the original be used. This involved a delay of weeks before it was delivered and installed satisfactorily. The tiles were laid, but it transpired that Kamil had not 'quoted' correctly, he had not included a 2 sq metre area that was clearly shown on the plan and he saw. So Kamil asked for additional money to cover this (in cash). I agreed, in order to get the job finished. More money was demanded for 'extra jobs'! this involved lifting the hinge of the gate because the new level of the tiles wouldn't allow the gate to open. This should have been covered in the quote, so I refused to pay the extra. The gate was subsequently not raised. Kamil refused to return and lay the additional 2 sq m so I withheld final payment until he relented (after months) and lay the tiles. The grouting used to finish the tiles was pink and looks out of place with the job, despite Kamil taking a tile sample to match the grouting too. Vista at no time visited the site, they merely passed on the job to contractors who subcontracted and creamed off their profit. I have requested several times that they inspect the job and correct the errors, but months later, I am still waiting. If you want a trouble free experience, look elsewhere.
