Lower Damgate Farm Holiday Cottages, Wedding Venue & Dovedale Animal Sanctuary

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Lower Damgate Farm last summer and wow what a venue! The animal sanctuary provided a unique experience that the guests loved, the venue staff are incredible, nothing was to much trouble and they made sure the day ran smoothly. The barn space is the perfect blank canvas for styling your wedding and the views across the peak district are simply breathtaking. For anyone looking for a wedding venue that you can truly personalise and make your wedding an event for all your family and friends you will struggle to find anywhere better. I hope to be back before too long.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at the Alpaca Hut. Karl and Carolyns farm is such a beautiful, special place. The scenery is incredible, the animals are friendly and Carolyn made sure our stay was perfect. The farm is also an animal sanctuary and one of our favourite things we did was go and feed the animals every day and collect fresh eggs in the morning. It was great to be able to spend as much time as we liked with the animals. Also they have 3 gorgeous dogs and a number of friendly cats, particularly Vodka who gave us lots of cuddles and made us feel right at home. It is also situated in such a great place for a base to explore the Peak District. Carolyn did absolutely everything to make our stay perfect. She welcomed us (although we arrived much later than expected!) and made us feel right at home. The hut itself is cute and cosy and I think the hot tub is honestly the cleanest hot tub Ive ever been in! I wish we never had to leave! Cannot recommend this place enough

I hired out the holiday cottages to celebrate my birthday with friends over a weekend. Carolyn was such a great help with the organisation, she provided a fantastic list of local recommendations that helped the weekend run smoothly! All the properties provided perfectly for our needs over the weekend, particularly the living spaces in Hope's Hideaway where we spent our evenings playing pool and boardgames galore! An added bonus for me and my animal-loving friends was the animal sanctuary and the opportunity to spend some time feeding the goats and alpacas as well as cuddling the resident dogs and cats. Lower Damgate Farm is in a beautiful part of the world and the hospitality of Carolyn truly allows you to take full advantage of this. 100% would recommend!

I hosted a wedding ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lea btw) at Lower Damgate Farm in October 2022. Dovedale Barn is such a fantastic venue, a large space that looked simply stunning. There was a large Scottish contingent on the night and we used the space to make a real foot-stompin' dance right through the evening. This really is a gem in the Peak District and the hosts could not have been more friendly.
