Hands down the best coffee I've had in the UK. Milk wasn't burnt and the coffee extraction was just right.

Ventured in prior to attending an event at the Apollo , ordered at the counter while my elderly mum found a seat . pastries looked passed their best , so ordered 2 slices of cake & 2 hot chocolates . Was asked to sit at a bar with high stools . Mistakenly thought this was while I waited to collect the order , mentioned mum had found a seat and I could join her & collect when it was ready . My intention was to avoid the congested till area and make it easier for other customers . Was barked at by surly staff member , tables were for breakfasts only and he pointed to a sign . I hadnt seen the sign , as it was further down the counter than the spot I had stood to order. Explained that mum & I both had physical disabilities and high stools would be difficult for both of us. Had already paid at this point . Was told thats the way it is , theres no space , so tables for breakfasts only , when another member of staff standing at the till chips in thats right , tables are for breakfasts only - yep Ive got it now - regardless of customer need , no breakfast no table! It wasnt subtle so everybody in the place knows too. The staff set up was completed by a guy making drinks , now glaring at me like I was gum on his shoe. The price I pay for being the moron who missed the sign that was beyond where I was standing to order & pay. I went to mum to say she had to move because we hadnt ordered breakfast .Customers on 2 other tables who took seats after mum , had to stand and lift up chairs to let her out . waiting for the order , high stools was not great, when somebody mumbled you can sit at a table - if somebody wants breakfast you have to move . Feeling uncomfortable after my ticking off , It wasnt worth the disruption to go back and risk the upheaval of having to move again . Considering leaving at this point but the thought of cancelling the order & asking for a refund unleashing further attitude , decided to keep quiet. one piece of cake arrived , had half each and waited for second slice .Really good banana bread , hit the spot - needed something to eat/ drink as head had been swimming . Waited a few mins and asked for other slice - advised I hadnt been charged for it , it was missed from the order. Both hungry , not much time to queue elsewhere as we had an event to get to , paid for the second slice .The person who brought the second piece was less surly than when she reiterated we couldnt sit at a table . Cake was good probably the best banana bread Ive had . Hot chocolate - served in a handle free crockery beaker , was thinking it maybe too hot to pick up, I need not of worried . It was barely warm milk , tasted like it had been made with the tiniest amount of chocolate milkshake . More taste from the chocolate powder sprinkled on top than from the drink , we stirred in the powder to try and get more of a chocolate taste . Stirred with the knife that came with banana bread as no spoon . So far cold drinks , good cake & unfriendly staff . Because of the surly attitude on arrival couldn't be bothered to say anything about the cold hot chocolate . Just wanted to leave not let it spoil the afternoon . If you have mobility problems , visual impairment or appreciate a polite / friendly welcome - avoid this place . 2 stars for the banana bread , that on its own deserves more but the rest of the experience was poor. Im not saying the customer has to be right all the time ,but we hadnt seen the rules of the house & didnt realise 17.60 wasnt enough of a spend in a coffee shop to justify a lower chair & table . we dont broadcast it but when, highlighted we have difficulties , it would be considerate to make an exception or at least be courteous when delivering a no . Not disability aware , not disability friendly in fact not friendly at all & I get the impression they couldnt care less .

Met the owner who served us. This guy makes great coffee, my latte was frothy and the mugs he served the coffee in were also very cute...and he also has delicious decaf He needs to promote this place more on social media, it's great.
