A pub worth the drive to get to! The views alone from the beer garden are reason enough to visit, it's like sitting in the countryside. The service was excellent and efficient, and the waitress even brought a dog bowl and water to our outdoor picnic table for us! There's a wide range of food, lots of local ales and of course lots of cricket memorabilia as you'd expect from a pub that is home of 'the cradle of cricket'. The beer garden is small and has pebbles rather than grass, but it's a small price to pay for the views!

Our first visit on the recommendation of my son, to ascertain if suitable for a wake after a funeral. So I booked for today for myself, two other adults and two grandchildren. Unfortunately, the food offered was a varying quantity and portion size. The grandchildren were happy as the ordered hamburgers. My daughters beef cheek was good, except it was cold in the centre and was very small. I and my son in law had pies, which were just ok but had been warmed up with a microwave, so the pastry was awful. The staff and drinks were very good. But the food was poor and expensive for the portion size except the burgers. Will not return.

Great location in the 'cradle of cricket' is its mantra. We didn't get the chance to eat here this time but I'm sure i will on another occasion. A good watering hole on a lovely senic walking route . I must return to watch some cricket. This place in steeped in sporting history and folklore.
