My wife and I enjoyed 3 days last week at The Old Schoolhouse Haltwhistle and again were very impressed with the high standard of the service provided and equally the wonderful welcome from Ian and Kate who go out of their way to ensure everyone is made to feel at home. The range of food on offer at breakfast is exceptional and we look forward to our next visit.

Kate and Ian have B&B hosting down to a fine art. Upon arriving in our disheveled, wet and muddy state, they welcomed us eagerly into their home and even took our mucky boots away to dry. They had plenty of advice about dining out options and places to see too. The Old Schoolhouse is an exceptionally well presented place. Very convenient to local pubs, shops and restaurants while being lovely and quiet too. The rooms were spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable and came with some great little additions. There wasn't just the usual tea, coffee and uht milk - there was coffee, a whole range of teas, hot chocolate and real milk in the minifridge. Not to mention the biscuits and homemade banana bread waiting for us. The communal guest living room was wonderfully welcoming and comfortable too - a great place to socialise with other guests over a bottle of wine, if you like. Finally, the incredible breakfast... We had so many mouthwatering options to choose from, all accompanied by several choices of homemade breads, jams and cereals. Freshly baked croissants and plenty of very good coffee accompanied our delicious mains and we eventually left as three very satisfied walkers, well prepared for the day ahead. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

Nicely located B&B, away from the high street but only a short walk away. The room we had was light, airy, well decorated, spacious and clean. The bed was a good size, and very comfy. The bathroom was huge and well equipped, with a good shower. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after throughout our stay. The breakfast was spot on, with an excellent choice. Definitely worth a visit and we'll hopefully be back soon.
